These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Portmanteau mobile application (“the App”), published by ZAPEXAPP SOLUTIONS (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. The App
Portmanteau is a vocabulary-building app that presents a feed of words and their meanings. The App learns, entirely on your device, which words you spend time on, and uses that to order the words it shows you. The App is provided free of charge.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the App. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and the rules of the app store you downloaded it from (Apple App Store or Google Play).
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App except to the extent permitted by law; (b) use the App for any unlawful purpose; (c) resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App or its word data; or (d) interfere with or disrupt the App.
5. Content and intellectual property
The App, its design, software, and the curated word collection are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Word definitions are provided for educational reference and may be concise or simplified; they are not a substitute for a professional dictionary.
6. Your data
The App stores your usage signals locally on your device and does not transmit them to us or any third party. See our Privacy Policy for details. You can erase this data at any time from the App’s settings screen.
7. Purchases and ads
The App is currently free and contains no in-app purchases. We may introduce non-intrusive advertising in a future version; if we do, your continued use after that update constitutes acceptance, and the Privacy Policy will be updated to describe any data the advertising provider collects.
8. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the word content is accurate or complete.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed USD 50 or the amount you paid for the App (which is zero), whichever is greater.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be reflected in an app update.
11. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
13. Apple / Google specifics
The App is not sponsored or endorsed by Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the App or its content, and have no obligation to provide support for it. These Terms are between you and us only.
